Metro Station Bến Thành

Metro Station Bến Thành is an underground metro interchange in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The station sits beneath the reconstructed Quách Thị Trang Square. It serves as the central terminal for the city’s urban railway network. The station provides direct access to the historic Bến Thành Market.

The structure consists of four main underground levels. It reaches a depth of 32 meters. The first basement level (B1) functions as a large concourse. This level contains ticketing machines, control gates, and commercial space. An underground plaza on this floor connects towards the Opera House station. The second level (B2) houses the platforms for Metro Line 1. The lower two levels, B3 and B4, are prepared for future metro lines.

A prominent architectural feature is the large lotus-shaped skylight. This skylight has a diameter of 21.6 meters. It allows natural light to reach the station’s concourse level. The station has six entrances and exits. These gates connect to surrounding landmarks. Key access points link to Bến Thành Market, 23/9 Park, and Lê Lợi Boulevard. The station’s total length is approximately 236 meters.

Bến Thành Station is the primary interchange for multiple routes. It is the starting point for Line 1 (Bến Thành – Suối Tiên). Planners designed it to integrate with the future Line 2, Line 3A, and Line 4. This makes it the largest and most critical hub in the Ho Chi Minh City Metro system. The station officially opened to the public in late 2024.
