Open in Google MapsYakiuo Ishikawa Saigon is a Japanese seafood restaurant on Thái Văn Lung in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The establishment represents the first international branch of the Tokyo brand. Chef Motonobu Ishikawa originated the dining concept after training at Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market. The kitchen specializes in meatless yakiniku, grilling high-grade sashimi cuts instead of traditional meats.
Multi-course tasting menus center on lightly seared fish and seasonal seafood. Staff grill sashimi slices directly over tabletop burners. Signature preparations feature fatty tuna otoro paired with sea urchin over seasoned sushi rice. The kitchen also produces savory fish chawanmushi, Hokkaido sea scallops, and marinated bluefin tuna cuts. Chefs pair the warm seafood courses with traditional red-vinegar rice bowls and miso soup.
The interior accommodates roughly sixty diners across multiple dining zones. Guests sit along an open kitchen counter, at standard dining tables, or in private dining rooms. Lanh Phan and partners introduced the concept to Vietnam in late 2024. The restaurant operates in Saigon’s Japanese dining enclave near Lê Thánh Tôn. À la carte lunch sets and evening omakase courses form the core culinary program.
The venue earned Concept of the Year honors at the 2024 Flavors Awards in Ho Chi Minh City. Regular deliveries supply the kitchen with fresh seafood imports from Japanese markets. Diners accompany meals with Japanese draft beer, premium sake, and green tea selections. The dining room maintains a smoke-free environment with individual tabletop exhaust systems.
