DOOBIE DOO BAR

DOOBIE DOO BAR is a Japanese-style disco tavern on Phạm Viết Chánh in Bình Thạnh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The establishment combines a Japanese tavern concept with disco music and decor. It is a joint project by teams from four Singaporean bars: Apollon/Am-bar, Mobomoga, Hearth, and Sakemaru. The interior features a prominent mirror ball and the music selection includes Japanese city pop from the 1980s.

The food menu centers on Japanese otsumami, or small plates intended to accompany drinks. A signature offering is the oden, prepared with a dashi from kombu and bonito. The oden selection includes traditional items like daikon and egg, alongside variations such as tomato, takoyaki, and wagyu shabu-shabu style. The kitchen also prepares sushi, sashimi, and other small dishes like iburigakko with cream cheese and a “kitsune banh mi”.

The beverage program focuses on a curated selection of sake. It features unique labels such as Amabuki, which uses flower yeast in its brewing process. The bar also serves a “Kobe-style” Kaku highball, a preparation served without ice. The venue’s atmosphere transitions from a dining-focused environment in the early evening to a music and drinks-oriented space later at night.

DOOBIE DOO BAR sits on a street known for its concentration of craft beer pubs and local restaurants. The space offers counter seating that provides an open view of the kitchen and bar area. The establishment serves both as a dinner destination and a late-night bar for drinks and music.
